David E. Gurley

resolution of project administration issues; review and preparation of construction and design defect claims; prosecution and defense of construction scheduling and delay claims; resolution of insurance coverage claims for construction defects; resolution of construction licensing issues; and the prosecution and defense of claims arising from Florida’s Construction Lien Law, state bonding statutes and the Federal Miller Act.

After receiving his J.D. from the Florida State University College of Law, David moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1984 where he began his practice in the areas of construction and surety law. He has counseled clients for nearly 40 years nationwide and in the Caribbean basin in the avoidance and resolution of construction, design and contract surety bond claims arising from theme park, power plant, medical facility, luxury resort, Army Corps, high rise luxury residential, transportation, and infrastructure projects.

David was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He and his wife Sandy are blessed with a blended family of five sons and a daughter. He is an instrument rated private pilot and enjoys sport fishing, scuba diving and international motorcycle touring. David is an active community contributor and supporter of such organizations as Habitat for Humanity, Fisher House, and various international human rights relief efforts. He is a founding member of the Florida Surety Association Governmental Affairs Committee.
